We’ve put together some communication cards, as free resources that can be printed out and lamented. The intension of these communication cards are to enhances interaction as well as promoting freedom of choice, expression and understanding.
Going To Hospital
Going To Hospital is an accessible publication for patients with learning disability or autism and aims to help children & young people with additional needs to know what they might expect to see when visiting hospital for an appointment or when being admitted for a procedure. Going To School’, which inspired Learning Disability Nurse that is Jane Rees and co – author Angie Emrys-Jones. Amanda Glennon from Inclusive Teaching Matters has produced a pdf download of all signs and symbols used in the book in the form of Healthcare Prompt Cards. These are free to download from the Makaton Library.
Makaton Charity
Today over 100,000 children and adults use Makaton symbols and signs, either as their main method of communication or as a way to support speech.
In addition to children and adults with communication and learning difficulties and the community around them – for example, teachers, health professionals, friends, public service bodies etc. Makaton is increasingly used by the general public to aid communication. ( Makaton Charity)
